Four hundred thousand people in the this country suffer from multiple sclerosis; I knew legitimately little about this debilitating disease until my sibling was tested. It is most typical in women between twenty and forty years old. My sibling Sheila was twenty-four when she learned the reason behind the numbness and tingling in her extremities. Multiple sclerosis affects the central nervous system and it affects the brain and spinal cord. My sibling deals with sensory and vision issues and balance issues. There is currently no known cure for MS and if left untreated, it can lead to paralysis, epilepsy and severe mental and emotional issues. She has tried some medications to slow the progression, prevent relapse and to control symptoms. Antidepressants, anxiolytics and muscle relaxants have also caused her nausea, vomiting and back pain. If she continues taking these prescriptions, she’s looking at potential liver and nerve injury, hair loss and even more. Hoping to give my sibling some hope and relief, I have researched the treatment with cannabinoids.  More studies are proving cannabinoids are effective at inhibiting inflammation, controlling neuropathic pain, and addressing the symptoms of multiple sclerosis. There are minimal side effects. And Sheila is noticing an amazing improvement in her health and well-being with a combination of THC and CBD. These 2 cannabinoids together combat her symptoms… While THC kills proinflammatory cells, the CBD suppresses the functions of certain white blood cells which cause inflammation. Plus, the CBD lessens the effects of THC, so my sibling isn’t dealing with “getting high.”
